Hooread is here to help you learn languages the fun way, through stories! 📖
Not only is it fun to learn through stories, it's actually the most effective way. The secret to language acquisition according to the current research is: [1]
1. Learning in context (not just memorizing words)
2. Having an interest in the topic (not only the language)
3. Consuming content that's at your current level.
We strive to provide fun and interesting stories for every level of language learner! Remember to save words to study with your personalized flashcards!
My name is Tristan, I grew up and live in Canada, I was in the French immersion program at my school. I've always had a love for languages. 🇨🇦
I'm passionate about learning and teaching, that's why I got my level 5 TEFL certification and created this webapp! 🧑🎓
I created HooRead as part of my Harvard CS50 certification because I wanted to read more in other languages, discover new vocabulary and get immersed in stories, all while putting my programming skills to good use. 🦸
Upcoming Features 👨💻
New Stories: New stories will be put out every week!
Pop-up Dictionary: A WordReference pop-up dictionary for more detailed and nuanced definitions.
Mobile App: I'm working on making an app for Android and Apple phones.
Much More! I have many more ideas in the pipeline! If you have any suggestions, please don't hesitate to reach out!
Thanks 🙏
